Delta Winds humiliate Chiefs
Delta Winds, better known as “Abafana ba Style” by their fans, produced a robust display to humiliate Boseja Chiefs 6-0 in an Nhabe regional football league match last Saturday night. Credit goes to four newly-acquired players - former Maun United goalkeeper Onnah, Zimbabwean international midfielder Tendai ‘Nyandoro' Katiyo, winger Tshebetso “Tshex” Lekgoa (formerly with Maun Terrors) and former BMC striker Menson Mompati.
The players had a brilliant start to the campaign of the new season as they all scored on their debut match. The team, which is currently on a build up, had fielded a completely different squad from last season and the new players combined well to beat Boseja Chiefs. The game started on a high note as Delta Winds tried to click together. Boseja (“Magosi') took advantage but failed to use their chances.
It took no time for Delta Winds to settle as they scored the first goal through Tshex Lekgoa, and it was not long before substitute Ndililo “Masitara” Buzwani registered his name on the referee's score sheet with a clinical finish.
Chiefs tried hard to get a goal, but Delta Winds' defence, led by Terrence, was watertight at the back and the goalkeeper was under no pressure as Chiefs rarely attacked their goal area.
After the break, Delta Winds continued where they had left off as they scored 4 more goals to bury Boseja Chiefs.
The goals came from Tendai Katiyo from an indirect free kick, Menson Mompati, while Ndililo Buzah completed his brace. The 4th and the final 6th goal came from substitute Ledombi who had came on in the second half to fill the vacuum left by Mompati.
