1st Year - 4th Position

Abafana Ba Style beat the Elephants

North West United, “The Elephants”, fell victim to Delta Winds (aka Abafana Ba Style) when they were beaten 2-0 in an Nhabe football league match at Maun Sports Complex on Saturday night.

A goal in each half ensured Delta Winds of a sweet victory in a game which was full of tension.
Delta Winds missed most of their regular players but that did not seem to matter as they went on to produce an outstanding performance to beat the Elephants who brought their full strength squad that included Shakes Boikhutso, Lebogang Likha and goalkeeper Divas Mokela.

The Elephants started the game with intentions of getting an early goal, but they could not break Delta Winds. Delta Winds took the lead, through a goalmouth scramble goal by midfielder Seloka “Velem” Nchinano who shot past the Elephants goalkeeper after a well taken corner. A defender failed to clear the ball and Nchinano was unattended as he put his side ahead. The goal separated the two sides until the half time whistle.

After the break, both sides created numerous chances but neither of them found the back of the net. North West United tried all their tricks upfront but they could not get a scoring opportunity. Delta Winds sealed their victory towards the end of the game. Nchinano was back again as he scored a second time from a move initiated from the midfield by Tendai Katiyo and Tshex Lekgowa.

The results left Delta Winds comfortably on 4th position on the league table with 48 points,
